Project Description
OperaTools is a non-profit educational project created to support and empower young opera singers through specialized training, mentorship, and concrete professional opportunities.
Its mission is to nurture artistic excellence while opening doors to the professional opera world in a transparent, accessible, and collaborative environment.
Throughout the year, OperaTools organizes a series of masterclasses, workshops, and artistic sessions led by renowned singers, theatre directors, agents, and stage directors. These sessions focus not only on vocal and musical refinement, but also on career development, artistic identity, stagecraft, and the realities of the operatic profession.
OperaTools was never intended to be a commercial project. All masterclasses and activities are structured with the purpose of giving young artists real value, visibility, and access to industry professionals. The project remains fully committed to reinvesting its resources into creating new opportunities, expanding its network, and strengthening the bridge between emerging singers and the professional world.
OperaTools stands for artistic integrity, community, and meaningful support — ensuring that young singers receive the guidance and opportunities they need to thrive in a highly competitive field.

Rafaela Albuquerque
Rafaela Albuquerque (b. 1993) is a Portuguese soprano praised for her refined stage presence and expressive, agile voice, described as “a true jewel of the evening” (RaiNews), “vocally compelling and scenically refined” (Connessi all’Opera), and “excellent… with a superb, flawless voice and delicate stage presence” (Olyrix).
A graduate of the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, following early studies at the Academia de Música de Santa Cecília, she later continued her artistic development in Italy, joining the “Fabbrica” Young Artist Program at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma from 2017 to 2020, where she quickly distinguished herself.
Her roles in Rome include Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Annina (La traviata, in Sofia Coppola’s production under Pietro Rizzo), Clorinda (La Cenerentola, conducted by Stefano Montanari and staged by Emma Dante), Zerlina (Don Giovanni, Graham Vick/Jérémie Rhorer), and the High Priestess (Aida) at the historic Baths of Caracalla. She also appeared in prestigious concerts such as the Concerto at the Italian Senate and a private performance of Violetta (La traviata) for the fashion house Valentino.
At the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Rafaela has performed Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) and appeared in a Gluck arias concert under Maestro Antonio Pirolli (2024). She is also scheduled to sing Karolka in Jenůfa in March 2025. Her additional engagements include Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) for the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, under Pedro Carneiro in a staging by João Pedro Mamede, and international appearances such as her concert performance at the Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires.
Rafaela has received significant recognition, including first prize at the International Artists Competition (2023), competing with musicians from major European institutions such as the Paris Opera Orchestra, and first prize at the Classic Pure Vienna Music Competition (2018). In the upcoming season, she will appear at the Teatro di Trieste, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, as well as in several concerts with orchestras, including performances of Richard Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder.
